Period: End of Sentence {Oscar winner}

The 2019 Oscar Short Documentary winner Period: End of sentence focuses on girls’ menstrual problems and production of sanitary pads. It realistically portrays a girl’s life in rural and muffasil North India. Its rawness reminds me of another India-based Oscar-winning documentary Smile Pinky.

Shot in natural light and making effective use of the surroundings…Period leaves a deep impact on you. This topic has been covered in Hindi feature films Phullu and Pad Man…but this one is gritty, unscripted, more informative and ultimately more emphathetic.

Verdict

5 out of 5. Definitely worth a watch.
